Thank you everyone that sent a gift! I would like to especially thank Prince Aiden, who put such thought into the basket I received--I love EVERYTHING!--and Lord Niklas, who gifted me with the most beautiful gown I have ever seen! I cannot wait to have an excuse to wear it! I may just wear it out and about because I can so everyone can see it! It is utterly amazing and perfect and I adore it!
All of the gifts I received were lovely and I had a wonderful time putting together the bottles that I sent out. Everyone can thank Master Thayne for them if they turned out well, he gave me very good instruction so that the final product turned out to be absolutely gorgeous! So, thank you, Master Thayne!

Though Lord Tobias is gone I shall continue to do my duty. He did not abandon us, he left me orders and the skills to do as he asked. I only hope that I am up to the task. Of course if he hadn't thought I was he would not have left it to me to run the Crimson Blades. It really is coming to me smoothly, but I admit that worry eats at my stomach. Spirits and Gods please watch over him, whatever trouble he is in.

I'm hoping that knowing it's coming -next- year will make it a little less of a frantic stock-and-weep for the Crafters. A few weeks more notice would have been nice as well, everything happened so -quickly-.

I have sent out a number of fantastic presents out of the generosity and purity of my heart.
I have also attended a noble (royal? noble) wedding in the capital for the first time.
The former was a great deal easier than the latter, although at the latter there was a lovely party.

Relationship Note on Lysander
Lord Lysander and Lord Silvio's vows to one another had me clutching my heart for fear it might fall right out of my chest. How serendipitous that their union, and the union of their Houses, fell on this day of gift giving. In being allowed to play even one small part in it, I do feel as though I've been given a gift.

I sent my nightingale around to people to sing a lovely song for them and let them enjoy listening and watch it a while. I thought a special, personalized nightingale song would be a unique gift to share with others. Only it is taking longer than I expected to do this and Philomel has not yet returned home. I hope no one decided he was supposed to be cat food or their dinner on the wing. When he gets back home, there will just have to be 'belated Gift Day' gifts.

Gentle Readers,
I decided perhaps I should take a break and spend a bit of time writing in the whites. Plus it is so nice and cool in here on such a warm day.
Today was a lovely day of many gifts. It was nice to see so many smiles as I went about town. Then, I received lovely gifts from Monique and Dominique that made me smile as well. Despite my father's grumpiness regarding the occasion, I even heard from some of the servants that he received a gift. It would have been amusing to see his face when he received it!
I also had a very helpful lesson in Diplomacy from Margerie. I haven't seen her in so long, but it was nice to catch up once more. And it was nice to meet her nieces as well. I look forward to getting to know all of them better.
On a sour note, Tobias has apparently gone missing, or maybe he left again who knows, and now father is putting out a bounty... I worry about where all of that will lead. I can't help but miss the little brother I knew as a child though. Yet I know only a little about the man he is now.
Anyway, that is enough for one day and I should be getting back to my errands.

I regret that I was not able to send out gifts to everyone in my life who deserves one - time rather got away from me, and I was only able to send out a fraction. Still, I hope that the gifts I was able to send out were, in some way, well received.

Increasingly I find I'm having to divide my time in ever more fine increments. I think, soon, I'm going to need to settle and determine where my efforts are best served, and what must be sacrificed if I'm to achieve all that I need to in this lifetime. On one hand, what deserves and shall receive my attention is obvious, on the other hand I find myself pondering where I can eke more time out of the day for frivolous distractions.
Today, though, I oversaw the finishing touches on some gifts for cherished friends, and it was worth every indulgent moment of idleness to witness.

Just about everyone I've met in this city so far has been... nice. It's odd, given the misconceptions my parents put in my head before I trekked over this way. I've written to them, and they wrote back, saying they're happy for me and my newfound success. I hope I can keep my momentum going. My skills as both a clothier and a woodworker are in high demand, and I intend to improve those skills before focusing on other things. I think that will give me the income I need to pursue the knowledge I crave. Finding a patron would also be quite nice, considering the doors that would open.
Oh, and I got a cat! The old building I rented has mice, and Ashes (the cat's name) is a mouser. She won't eat the dirty things, though. Just leaves them by my workbench and ducks her head for scratches, which I happily give. If only I could pay an actual person-assistant in scratches. Hmm.
